Started in 1996, Intuitive Surgical, Inc. pioneered the field of robotic-assisted minimally-invasive surgery with their da Vinci™ robotic platform. Worldwide, Over 3 million people have undergone da Vinci™ Surgery and benefited from our relentless drive to improve surgical outcomes while reducing invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority. The fourth generation of the da Vinci™ robots was released in 2014. We continue to develop new robots and procedures to redefine the standard of care for modern surgery.
Must be concurrently enrolled in a degree-seeking program with an accredited university or enrolled in an upcoming program.
Must be available to work full-time hours, M-F for 14-16 weeks during a typical academic semester. Preference is availability to commit to 2 co-op rotations.
Primary Function of Position:
The System Analyst Co-op is a paid, full-time, limited-duration position which will be offered for one academic term at a time. The position is designed for Masters Students (and higher) who wish to begin their professional career before completing their degree program. The Intuitive Surgical Co-op Program will provide participants with valuable hands-on experience in product research and development in the robotic medical-devices field. An ideal candidate will spend multiple terms with Intuitive Surgical before graduating, alternating terms taking classes and working.
The Co-op will work with a group of talented and dedicated employees and other Co-op students to improve and extend Intuitive Surgical’s surgical robotic product lines. The successful candidate will contribute broadly to the Systems Analysis Group, with focused contribution to the Raleigh-based team whose mission is the support and re-engineering of mature products. As a member of the team, you will be involved in developing new features, analyzing data, troubleshooting, developing testing strategies for the da Vinci™ Surgical System. As a Co-op, you will additionally be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition of your work to other Co-ops during your academic terms away.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop supporting application software for testing, verification, and business needs.
Support root cause analysis and issue resolution for released products and products in production.
Perform formal risk analysis and develop software mitigations.
Contribute to the definition and specification of future designs
BS or BA in quantitative science/engineering a minimum.
Experience with robots or electro-mechanical devices.
Mathematics-based coding experience (MATLAB or Python preferred).
Demonstrated academic achievement and critical thinking.
Willingness and eagerness to work in a team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Interest in the medical applications of robotics.
Leadership experience is beneficial.
