Lead NPI Engineers to complete Design Transfer of new instrument products from New Product Development into Manufacturing Operations. Actively participation in new product development teams that create and refine instrument components and assemblies, manufacturing processes, associated tooling, and test methods. Deliver the product on schedule and on budget by employing core capabilities including project management, DFM, lean manufacturing, and team play.
Roles and Responsibilities:
This position has responsibility and authority for:
• Manage and Allocate team resources over multiple projects. Negotiate for needed resources from other teams to enable project success.• Ownership of new products during pilot production phase, including validating manufacturing processes, providing production support through extended project launch, and complete manufacturing transfers to other facilities.• Drive creation of efficient manufacturing assembly line, specifying and refining bill of materials (BOMs), work flow and detailed manufacturing instructions.• Identify, design, qualify, document and introduce assembly/test fixtures and equipment.• Drive team to meet product cost goals and production line capacity.• Maintaining compliance with medical device quality system.• Employ continuous improvement to identify and eliminate the cause of discrepancies.• Creating budget estimate for new product introduction resources, prototype materials, tooling and engineering tests.• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with management peers, suppliers, and a host of ISI organizations including, new product development, planning, purchasing, quality, regulatory, inspection, and marketing.
Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience)
In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must:
• BS degree in an engineering discipline (i.e. EE, ME, CS, CE)• 5+ years experience in a manufacturing engineering/ test engineering role• 3+ years as a leader of cross-functional, technical personnel in a fast paced environment• Demonstrated mechanical and Process Engineering ability• Demonstrated ability in failure analysis and continuous improvement
• MS degree is an engineering discipline (i.e. EE, ME, CS, CE)• Experience applying automated equipment to complex manufacturing solutions.• Demonstrated ability to represent the company to its partners, suppliers, and vendors• Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing (including GMP, MDD, ISO) – particularly regarding process validation.• Comfortable interacting with technicians, engineers, and management.• Experience in Just-In-Time, Demand Flow Technology, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
