Position’s Objective and Summary: 


The Sr. Manager, Commercial Learning – International will manage a team of Global Commercial Learning trainers to develop, deliver, and manage training initiatives and programs. This individual will work closely with the aligned Sales Leadership team to create and execute on a sales training strategy that improves the knowledge and skills of the direct and indirect sales representatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Partner with the International Direct and Indirect Sales Leadership Team to support the sales strategy by aligning all training programs and initiatives to the priorities 
  • Assess sales force for strengths and gaps pertaining to knowledge and skills; develop programs to address competency gaps
  • Partner with U.S. Commercial Learning Sr. Manager(s) and Training teams to ensure process, standardization and compliance of technical, clinical and sales training content
  • Collaborate with internal partners such as Commercial Operations, Salesforce Effectiveness, ISI Business School, HR, Talent Development, Clinical Product Education and other cross functional partners to standardize business processes
  • Collaborate with Learning & Technology Specialist to execute e-learning initiatives and maintain current training records
  • Oversee identification and implementation of localizing sales training infrastructure in global markets as needed
  • Hire, train, and develop talented individuals and enable them to achieve their professional goals
  • Demonstrate accountability to achieve ISI direct and indirect goals by delivering relevant and impactful sales training programs 
Sales Training
  • Creation of curricula, agendas and training materials for all technical, clinical and sales training 
  • Leverage various formats and venues for training programs, such as instructor-led, self-led, distance learning/remote, video and podcast, etc. to maximize the impact of the content
  • Collaborate closely with Global Marketing to ensure training aligns with messaging, value propositions and market opportunities 
  • Conduct routine field rides with field sales to diagnose common training needs as well as provide coaching, feedback and mentorship 
  • Train Commercial Learning team at ‘Trainer’ level to effectively deliver the Clinical Sales Process and the Capital Sales Process to the Sales Team 
Clinical Training
  • Demonstrate superior understanding of clinical education modules as part of the Clinical and System Training (CAST) and Distributor CAST (DCAST) programs 
  • Effectively present and deliver ISI Procedure Lectures to trainees as part of the CAST and DCAST programs
  • Train Commercial Learning Team at ‘Trainer’ level to effectively deliver clinical presentations to the Sales Team 

Technical Training
  • Demonstrate superior understanding of technical education modules as part of the Clinical and System Training (CAST) and Distributor CAST (DCAST) programs 
  • Effectively present and deliver ISI Technical Lectures to trainees as part of the CAST and DCAST programs
  • Educate Sales Personnel on Best Practices for da Vinci Surgical Systems pre, intra and postoperative management 
  • Train Commercial Learning Team at ‘Trainer’ level to effectively deliver technical in-services and presentations to the Sales Team 
Analytical:
  • Forecast annual program needs to meet organizational growth 
  • Measure sales effectiveness of training programs and develop reports and comprehensive programs analysis 
  • Define performance objectives for field sales personnel

 

Qualifications

 Skill/Job Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. Degree Required, preferably in Business Administration, Communications, Healthcare Management 
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent training experiences a plus
  • 5+ years of Sales and/or Sales Management Experience preferred, preferably in medical device field
  • 3+ years of Corporate Training preferred
  • Training Management Experience preferred
  • Experience with the da Vinci system and training da Vinci surgeons preferred
  • Experience working Internationally and experience working with distributors preferred
  • Knowledge of the operating room and associated processes 
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Must be based near corporate headquarters (Sunnyvale, CA)
