Description

Primary Function of Position:
  • Lead a team of commodity specialists, supplier engineers and buyers in supplier selection, evaluation, development, and improvement with the goal of establishing and maintaining a high performing, long term sustainable production supply chain.
  • Responsible for building a mature Endoscope supply chain in terms of component quality, capacity and continuity of supply.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship between Intuitive and direct & key sub-tier suppliers.
  • Exercise influence over tier-1 and sub-tier suppliers to execute to Build Plan and project commitments. Proactively identify issues and pull resources together across Intuitive worldwide to resolve.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate metrics that are aligned with team, Business Unit and Corporate objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure continuity of supply of materials required for the manufacture of Endoscopes while meeting cost and quality requirements
  • Create department operating procedures, work instruction, and work flows.
  • Establish and achieve departmental goals.
  • Identify needs within own organization. Hire, train and develop personnel to meet those needs.
  • Provide ongoing performance coaching and development.
  • Evaluate and provide annual performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Drive high quality outcomes by carefully analyzing data and information in complex situations. Maintain objectivity even when under pressure to make decisions based on available information.
  • Problem solver – Structured/analytical approach to finding optimal and timely solutions to day to day and strategic challenges.
Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent and 15 years or more experience in Supply Chain management with significant medical device experience.
  • Commodity management experience 10+ years required. Knowledgeable about European suppliers of components used in endoscope manufacturing. Similar knowledge at a global level is a plus.
  • Engineering background or experience managing Supplier Engineering is desired.
  • Fluent in German preferred (spoken, written, technical)
  • Proven ability to lead teams to solve difficult technical and process problems
  • Proven ability to hire highly capable staff, and grow and mentor staff
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiation with a clear understanding of what it takes to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of pFMEA, process validation, inspection and test techniques
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) interacting with partners, suppliers and stakeholders across different time zones
  • Ability to make effective presentations to peers and suppliers
  • Self-starter attributes to apply towards working in a dynamic, satellite facility with minimal direct supervision
  • Domestic and International travel required
  • Flexible to join cross time zone meetings/schedules
