Intuitive Surgical™, the world leader in surgical robotics, is seeking an electrical engineer to join the new product development team. This position will be responsible for creating innovative electronic PC boards with emphasis in motor control and power circuits, but also containing communications, processing and other advanced capabilities.
Candidates must be highly self-motivated, creative, resourceful, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment, and possess uncommon technical breadth and depth.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Responsible Engineer for a variety of PC boards, especially those that are tightly integrated with robotic mechanics.• Interface with other engineering disciplines including mechanical and software.• Work closely with the FPGA programming team to provide full functionality to the circuit design.• Follow rigorous design control methodology from design specification through design transfer to manufacturing.• Write detailed design documentation, including specifications and verification plans.• Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Field Service.• Perform other electrical engineering duties as-needed.
• BSEE, MSEE preferred.• Familiarity with a broad range of electronic components and hardware, including analog, power, FPGAs, microcontrollers, memories, logic, signal conditioning, and communication interfaces.• Recent, product-focused experience designing multilayered PC boards including actual hands-on board layout, bring-up, and debug experience.• Comfortable with all phases of the product development life cycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, manufacturing transfer, and maintenance.• Strong understanding of component selection criteria, including design for reliability and manufacturability.• Strong fundamentals in electrical design, such as signal to noise analysis, op amp circuits, electro-magnetic physics, and RF and antenna design.• Proven experience with EMI/EMC compliance challenges, design for reliability, and design for manufacturability.• Experience implementing analog, such as small signal and instrumentation circuits, and/or power designs, such as motor drivers or power supplies.• Experience with OrCAD Capture, Allegro Layout, Verilog, Simulators, and Agile are preferred.• Excellent communication, specification, teamwork, and documentation skills.• Minimum of 10 years of experience.
