Primary Function of Position:

The Program Manager will report directly to the Customer Training Manager or Director for their region. This training professional will collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and engineering to deliver high impact training for da Vinci® surgeons from a variety of surgical specialties including urology, gynecology, general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. The Program Manager will be actively involved in the continuous improvement of training programs and provide support for customer training, engineering and training research initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead one or more marketing verticals by specialty to conduct advanced training for surgical teams

o Identify high volume users and opinion leaders who have the potential to lead courses
o Vet potential surgeon leads for capacity, personality, and willingness to be coached and maximize their impact by placing them in positions of need
o Provide feedback to existing hosts on delivery, presentation, and lab execution
o Participate in discussions with marketing counterparts on host selection, forecasting and planning
o Work with marketing counterparts to create strategy and drive adoption within assigned verticals
o Write agendas as needed and obtain regulatory approval

• Work with their next-level manager to use data in order to forecast appropriate course mixes within assigned marketing verticals
• Work with DVRC and Customer Training Managers to coordinate events in labs nationwide in alignment with forecast
• Attend surgical society events to build relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, high-volume surgeons, and administrators
• Evaluate and critique alternate training modalities as necessary
• Work with Sales leadership and marketing to align course numbers with forecast and ensure that courses are utilized effectively in order to support training strategies
• Prepare and lead regional courses for specific Sales regions
• Liaise with other medical device companies to provide enhanced support and material for Intuitive Surgeon-Led courses
• Conduct da Vinci® Surgical System training programs for surgical teams, residents and fellows at designated training centers and remote centers as needed
• Work with Customer Training team in a creative, dependable, and flexible manner to improve existing training programs
• Create and run reports on Salesforce.com to identify trends and opportunities within a marketing vertical
• Partner with Implementation Manager to create training plans to support Accelerated MIS Programs
• Travel to hospital sites to evaluate potential training labs for viability for Technical Training and hospital educator training
• Collaborate with Director to identify best practices for training hospital educators
• Conduct off-site Technical Training as needed
• Coordinate with Lab Technicians to maintain adequate inventory for offsite trainings
• Maintain records of site visits and coordinate training for hospital educators including initial trainings, software updates and annual refresher trainings
• Provide 6 or more Technical Trainings per quarter
• Provide occasional support of the da Vinci® System in a hospital operating room
• Develop competency in the following:

o da Vinci® System Technology
o da Vinci® System applications
o OR Efficiency
o Training Pathway process
o Training/coaching techniques/methodologies
o Clinical competency in assigned vertical
Qualifications

Core Competencies, Skills and Experience Requirements:

• 2-5 yrs. Professional Training experience
• Proven experience training on complex topics and/or technology
• High capacity and excellent problem solving skills
• Solid organizational skills and ability to operate independently
• Professional work ethic
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of adult learning principles preferred
• Medical-device experience preferred
• Ability to travel up to 70%

Education and Training Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Clinical or Health Sciences, Healthcare Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Communications or Education
