Primary Function of Position: 

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in devops automation in a linux and some Windows AD environment.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

SME on Linux, cloud integration, and experience with SQL database and networking. This position is part of the Operations team and will work closely with developers, DBAs, QA, and project managers throughout the software lifecycle in delivering best in class, large scale systems

• Automate everything
• Protect the stability of the infrastructure through consistency of builds and processes
• Monitor systems health and security. Ensure SLAs are met or exceeded
• Configure/implement build reporting based on plug-ins and tools
• Enhance/extend a configuration/deployment/monitoring framework
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Work with NoSQL Datastores such as MongoDB
• Design, Develop, and Integrate distributed caching frameworks such as Evcache and Redis
• Work with Platforms as a Service such as AWS, Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, etc.
• Interacts with customers and development team to gather and define requirements
• Follows a formal design process using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and also adheres to regulations, standards, and established guidelines for development and delivery of software and web applications
• Manage Redhat Satellite and on-going security patching
• Deploy and manage a DevOps pipeline using tools like; Ansible Tower, Jenkins, and Docker
• Monitor and administer Linux/Windows servers and network systems, keeping system information up-to-date
• Participate in the planning and design of Engineering infrastructure projects
• Troubleshoot and repair system and network issues in multiple data centers
• Provides off-hours support for critical applications

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:
 
Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience.) In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must: 

• Be a team player, able to interface with highly technical SME’s across multiple disciplines to reach best-in-class solutions
• Be highly passionate about quality, robustness and Patient Safety
• B.S in Computer Science or related technical major
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in Linux system administration and 4 years’ experience in Windows Server/AD administration
• Minimum 2 years’ working experience with AWS technologies
• Strong background in Linux administration and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in Ansible (Other configuration management tools may count but preferable is Ansible first)
• Experience in Continuous Integration and Build tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, etc.
• Experience in GIT workflows for multiple properties and APIs
• Experience in Linux/Perl/Python/Unix Shell scripts – to handle complex automation/administration tasks
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail; mission-critical production support experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in working effectively in cross-functional team
• Expert level knowledge with VMware or other flavors of hypervisors
• Expert level knowledge with networking protocols such as: TCP/IP, DNS, Bind, DHCP, PKI, Samba
• Experience with database systems (MySQL and/or SQL Server)
• Experience with Enterprise SIEM tools like Splunk, Nagios, Cacti, Pageduty
• Self-motivated and constantly looking for continuous improvement of process and technologies
• Ability to drive projects to successful completion
• Physical ability to work with rack mounted equipment in a production data center environment
• Location: Sunnyvale, CA Headquarters; alternate location: Santa Barbara, CA
• Travel: <10%, potentially more for Santa Barbara location
