Primary Function of Position:

The Digital Data Engineering Group designs, builds, deploys and supports non-medical software, data infrastructure, web portal, web applications and services to collect and analyze medical device machine data from thousands of systems deployed world-wide.

The ideal candidate for the position of Software Quality Engineering Manager will have experience in managing  product verification and validation of web based applications, portals and services as well as application interfaces (API), data validation and definition. Shall have experience in managing development of automated test tools and scripts as it will champion the code quality principles for the growing application and web landscape, as it relates to the delivery of our omni-channel customer experience portals, webpages, data and applications. This position would be responsible for operating within fast-paced initiatives, in both Agile and Waterfall lifecycles. This position requires an individual with strong management skills, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with highly technical peers, and the capability to manage workload among changing priorities, alternating between hands on verification, validation, software development and automation.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position has responsibility and authority for:

  • Manage a team of highly technical QA and SDET engineers and be able to guide technical decisions in the team

  • Hands on involvement with test automation and test development framework

  • Partner with Automation Architect to implement & adopt the right test automation

  • Improve the overall QA process, such as identifying gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and suggesting improvements

  • Act as a strong advocate for quality in the product development process for software engineering

  • Lead and manage a technical team of onsite engineers

  • Work with QA and Dev team to create QA test plans, schedules and resource mgmt.

  • Provide timely and accurate QA status and progress during all project testing phases, including summarizing QA results at project conclusion

  • Participate in reviews of technical specifications, test scripts and program code with other members of the engineering team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, functionality and limitations of systems/applications to team

  • Work with various team to promote QA processes, practices and standardization

  • Develop methods and perform load and performance testing

  • Mobile and browser compatibility testing

  • Understanding and adherence to company design control process and documentation practices

Skill/Job Requirements:


Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience. In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must have:

• Software QA Automation experience on Web and Mobile platforms
• Experience writing and using Python, JavaScript, Selenium or Java to automate tests
• CI/CD experience
• Hands on experience with tools such as Jenkins, Postman, API’s and AWS
• Managed multiple product release
• Self-motivated, independent, and proactive
• 3+ years successful software QA management experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline preferred or minimum 5 years of experience.
• Working knowledge of QA in Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Strong commitment to quality and ability to work closely and communicate effectively with developers and project managers across multiple teams
• Experience and understand in Design Control and Design Validation (GxP)
• Ability to lead testing activities and recommend process improvement opportunities for multiple concurrent projects
• Good interpersonal skills and able to work with various cross functional teams to deliver high quality products
• Highly effective communicator and problem solver
• Willingness to learn and implement new processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong talent development and leadership skills
• Ability to read code or have good understanding in one or more programming language
• Understanding of SQL and the ability to query and perform data comparisons and diffs.
• Working knowledge of the various types of testing, from functional testing to performance and mobile/browser compatibility, white/black box
• Experience in bug management tools like JIRA or ALM
• Working knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build and release processes, continuous deployment, and test suite development and maintenance
• Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, and advanced problem-solving orientation and decision making skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum models Ability to critique work of self and others constructively
• Troubleshooting mindset, an ability to systematically and effectively break down a system or process into subparts to identify failure mechanisms
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
• Possess excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Eligibility to legally work in the united States
• Some travel may be required (no more than 10%)
